Members of GE?s volunteer team recently donated a work of art to uplift the spirits of the hundreds of patients, families and caregivers, who pass through Northside Hospital?s Infusion Center in Atlanta.

As a regional leader in cancer care, Northside treats more than 3,500 patients with cancer each year.? Many of these patients require chemotherapy as part of their care, which can take long hours per visit.

Through the Foundation for Hospital Art, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating colorful, soothing artwork for hospitals to help soften the often stressful hospital experience, GE purchased a PaintFest? kit, which included six pre-drawn canvases, art supplies and instructions.? Members of the GE volunteer team then gathered to paint the canvases, before donating the completed artwork to Northside.

?GE does this every year; we select an organization to donate the artwork to, as a ?Thank You? for their work in the community,? said Annett Curtiss, senior client director, GE Healthcare.? ?Northside was selected because of their wonderful community work regarding Cancer and Women?s Health.? We are proud of all Northside does.?

?My special thanks to GE,? said Phyllis Youngblood, director of oncology quality and support services at Northside Hospital.? ?A bright and inviting environment is healthy for patients, families and staff.?

?The art is just beautiful, bright and cheerful and fills the entire entry wall, where every patient and family member will be able to see when entering the Infusion Center,? said Susan Casella, breast health coordinator, Northside Hospital.? ?As we were unwrapping the artwork, several patients, families and staff were smiling from ear to ear.?
