RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The mother of North Carolina State cornerback David Amerson says her son is skipping his final season with the Wolfpack and entering the NFL draft.
Tawanna Taylor says Amerson submitted paperwork with the NFL before Tuesday's deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft. She says Amerson will work out in Florida to prepare for the draft.
Amerson set an Atlantic Coast Conference record with 13 interceptions and was a second-team Associated Press all-American as a sophomore. But the 6-foot-3, 194-pound cornerback had a bumpy junior season - including being beaten for multiple touchdowns in losses to Tennessee and Miami - before finishing with five interceptions and second-team all-ACC honors.
Team spokeswoman Annabelle Myers says Amerson hasn't announced any draft plans through the school.
